Client: The Indy Family Foundation (IFF) has been a cornerstone in the racing community since 2007. The non-profit foundation raises funds to aid those in the motorsports community who find themselves in financial hardship caused by illness, injury or death. IFF created “Festival on Main, “ in 2013, a family-friendly fundraising event held during the Month-of-May in Indianapolis. Festival on Main transformed Speedway’s Main Street into a celebration filled with live music, a custom car and motorcycle show, kid zone, unique food and beer presentations and a spectacular fireworks show.

Challenge: Porch Light PR was asked to increase public awareness about IFF and “Festival on Main” leading up to the event, with the goal of improving attendance, and growing sponsorship of the event. Porch Light PR was also asked to grow overall awareness about IFF and the work they do to assist those in the motorsports industry. We were also asked to create and execute content for the IFF social media accounts leading up to the festival.

Solution: Porch Light PR worked with IFF to determine different angles for the multiple press releases and content for social media. Press releases and media advisories were created to announce the overall event lineup and music acts and fireworks show.
Porch Light PR also created a regional media list to distribute press releases, media advisories, and event details to community calendars and for use in pitching media to both preview and cover the event.

Results: Festival on Main received extensive coverage both leading up to and during the event through stories and interviews including: Fox 59 Morning News (WXIN-TV), IndyStyle (WISH-TV), WRTV-ABC, 1070 The Fan, and WZPL. Internet coverage included:,,,,,,,, and

As a result, overall attendance of the event nearly doubled and sponsorship increased by 50%. The foundation has also experienced more interest from the public year-round as a result of the exposure both the foundation and the event received.
